‘The Calm after the Storm’ is more than just the end of the noise. It is the moment when the world pauses and the wounds become visible. Amidst the rubble and memories, the power of a new beginning emerges. Where destruction once reigned, new paths are forged through courage, solidarity and hope. The scars remain part of the story, but they do not determine the future. This image speaks of humanity’s ability to rise again even after the darkest times, to create something new and to make room for peace. I primed and built up this work using various material textures, and conveyed the theme through colour. By deliberately breaking up parts of the surface during the drying process, I succeeded in making this powerful statement on the subject.
