I primed and built up this work using various textural materials, and conveyed the theme through colour. By deliberately breaking up parts of the surface during the drying process, I succeeded in creating this powerful statement on the subject. When the world holds its breath, time seems to stand still for a moment. Amidst the traces of war and destruction, questions, pain and memories remain. Yet even where walls have fallen and hope seems lost, something new begins to grow. From courage, solidarity and humanity springs the strength to rebuild. Every stone that is laid anew speaks of the decision not to give up. This image serves as a reminder that hope does not wait for the end of darkness – it begins to shine within it and points the way to a more peaceful future.
