The texture I build up on the canvas allows me to imbue my works with a dynamic energy through the interplay of the individual parts of a painting, and the final result is a work that thrives on a concrete and compact materiality as a whole. It is therefore never a mere expression of individual gestures, materials, signs, or fragments. Even though they do not tell long-winded stories, the figurative images in this small series of “Companions” convey a wealth of signals pointing to many exciting situations, events, and infatuations.
