It is the rough and delicate textures of the parched, cracked earth, the shattered scree fields, and the wind-sculpted sand dunes that I was able to see and feel during my journey with the Bedouins in the Egyptian desert. These experiences formed the basis for an entire series of my ‘Bedouin paintings.’ Harmoniously integrated or revealed through repeated layers of paint, the individual applications in a wide variety of sand colors are interwoven and laid over one another in glazes. The painting ‘Desert Dwellers’ depicts a group of people traveling together through the desert.
