Many of my paintings also involve a highly artistic veiling of thoroughly human situations, longings, and desires, which need not always be rooted in reality but may simply be the product of my imagination. The substance built up on the painting surface allows me to imbue my works with a dynamic force through the interplay of the individual parts and layers of a painting. It is thus never a pure expression of individual gestures, materials, signs, or fragments. The work is visibly a final result that thrives on a concrete and compact materiality as a whole.
