The works in the “Signs of the Times” series—created in two similar phases—are pieces that invite the viewer to pause and surrender to the pull of the energy these small works on canvas radiate. Passionate and thrillingly powerful, as in most of my previous paintings, the impulsive, dynamic, yet sensitive visual language dominates—complemented by black elements and lines as well as light green-gray areas. It is then the “eye-catchers” in red that, despite their power, also convey tenderness, fragility, gentleness, and romance. The basis of this painting consists of multi-layered textured surfaces made from finely ground materials.
